Welcome to San Antonio, Texas!
San
Antonio consists of more than just the Alamo. Like everything in Texas,
San Antonio is big. It is the ninth-largest city in America, and hosts
over 8 million tourists annually. San Antonio is a cosmopolitan area that
pays homage to its history and natural environment. Where else can you
watch a six-story IMAX screen portraying the Alamo battles, and then walk
across the street to the actual spot where they occurred? What other place
gives you a 750-foot-high city view from the Tower of the Americas, and
then an alternate observation from the San Antonio River? Where can you
choose between an authentic Mexican cuisine and a gourmet meal at an outdoor
café? The answer is: only in San Antonio, where activity choices
seem unlimited. Frank Tolbert, a Texas historian and journalist, once
said "Every Texan has two homes: his own and San Antonio."
A stay in one of San Antonio's hotels will make y'all agree
with Tolbert, even if y'all aren't Texas natives.
Visiting San Antonio
San
Antonio's two nicknames, Fiesta City and Alamo City, illustrate the metropolis'
dichotomy. San Antonio is whatever visitors want to make of it – both a
place to learn about Texas' history and a place to party. The city's
even climate makes it a year-round vacation destination – no matter what
you desire. It is often voted one of the best places to visit over Christmas,
a great place for an anniversary or honeymoon, and a top destination for historical
sites.
